Hi there, I'm Alexy!
In 2012 I went away to college and my new lifestyle led me to adopt poor habits which led to weight gain. At this point in my life I felt SO uncomfortable in my own body and my confidence was at its lowest.
I was feeling lost and unhappy and I realized that I needed to make some sort of change in my life. I thought that if I went to the gym and worked to improve myself that I would look and feel better which very quickly this evolved into the gym becoming my outlet. On a quest to also improve my mental health I started making healthier choices. I started feeling better physically and mentally.
I soon discovered my passion for health and wellness and decided to pursue a degree in Exercise Physiology which I received in 2017.
In 2015 I decided to challenge myself and competed in the figure division of bodybuilding. After competing and living a very extreme lifestyle I developed a negative relationship with food and my body. I still lacked self-esteem and confidence and I really struggled with feeling comfortable in my own body. I never felt lean enough and I couldn’t enjoy ice cream without binging on the pint.
My focus then shifted towards creating a happier and healthier lifestyle for myself and I started working on my mindset to help build up confidence in myself. I did workouts and ate foods in a way to honor myself and my body. My biggest focus at this time was doing all of these things because I enjoyed them and not because I felt the need to keep up with a physique or expectations I set for myself.
Now, I no longer restrict myself from the foods I love and have taken back my power by improving my physical and mental strength. I went from not being able to keep ice cream in the house to having freezer burn on my ice cream and from working out everyday to just 3 days a week. The best part? I am in the best shape and feel my best!
